Dota 2: Alpha x Hastax disbands

A blow for the SEA scene and carry vtFaded as Alpha x Hashtag announce they’re disbanding their Dota 2 roster.

The SEA Dota 2 scene is in the middle of one of it’s best chapters lately. With plenty of new teams who are slowly improving, as well as teams that have proved themselves as some of the best in the world; like TNC Predator.
But it’s not all good news for the DPC in Southeast Asia.

Bad News

Unfortunately, one of our new teams had a very unpleasant surprise for fans just before Christmas. Even though they were only formed  a couple of months ago, Alpha x Hashtag decided to release their entire Dota 2 teams.

This was kind of expected because the team never really took off. They failed to achieve good results in the DPC qualifiers, despite having a very solid roster. As a consequence, every single player from that roster is now a free agent.

The strange thing is that the news about the disband comes just days after Cheng “vtFaded” Jia Hao joined the team. As we know, the talented carry player was removed from EHOME after a series of bad results.

Galvin Kang “Mercale” Jian Wen, Kim “Velo” Tae-sung, Wilson Koh “Poloson” Chin Wei, and Adam “343” Shax have a couple of weeks to decide what their next move is. After all, the next set of the DPC qualifiers begin in February.

As for the ex- Alpha x Hashtag players, we can only wish them luck. All of them are very capable players, so it’s just a matter of time before they find a new home.

Be sure to keep up with how the SEA powerhouse TNC are faring at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational. Even though it’s not a DPC tournament, it still has one of the biggest prize pools ever.
