LEC Announces Broadcast Partnership Deal With Tencent-Owned Trovo

Riot Games’ LEC has announced a new broadcast partner in Trovo, the livestreaming platform launched in 2020 by Tencent (also the parent company of Riot Games). Financial terms were not disclosed. The LEC is also currently broadcast on YouTube and on Twitch with a variety of alternate-language options.

The deal is part of a larger push by Trovo to move into the esports space. The company recently became a sponsor of esports organization Nova Esports’ PUBG Mobile team, and became the title partner of the Mobile Mayhem Call of Duty: Mobile team, now competing under the name Trovo Mayhem.

As these partnerships suggest, Trovo launched with a focus on mobile content. At time of writing, two of the most-watched games on the platform are CoD: Mobile and PUBG Mobile, though League of Legends is in the top three.

Earlier this month the LEC announced a number of new and returning broadcast partners including Summoner’s Inn (Germany), OTP LoL (France), LVP (Spain), Polsat Games (Poland), PGEsports (Italy), esport1.gg (Hungary), Inygon TV (Portugal), and GIG.me (Russia). In addition, German insurer LVM Versicherung signed on as an official sponsor for the German broadcasts.
