MATUMBAMAN goes 27/1/8 in his LAN debut with Team Secret

Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen is back and he is enjoying the carry role on the strong right click heroes that once made him one of the most feared position one players.

Team Secret made their LAN debut after TI9 this morning in Singapore, at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational, but they play in the tournament with Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng standing in for Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat. The small roster adjustment for this event, doesn’t seem to impact them at all. Although Midone was playing his first official matches in the support lines, Secret were able to dominate in the opening series of the group stage courtesy of perfect performance from MATUMBAMAN and great coordination from Michał “Nisha” Jankowski, who is embracing the mid lane position for this season.

In game one tried to surprise the European team with a last pick Meepo, but they picked it into Nisha’s Magnus and Matu’s Anti-Mage and got overpowered pretty quickly. Despite having Meepo on their side, VP didn’t manage to keep the networth advantage for more than four minutes through the entire match, and once Magnus had his Aghanim’s Scepter done and the Anti-Mage felt safe to join the fights with Manta and Basher completed, VP’s Meepo found it impossible to disrupt Secret’s game. The brawl was over in under 30 minutes, with a close to 20k advantage for Team Secret and 14/0/7 K/D/A for MATUMBAMAN.

Matu was set to deliver a spotless series with Ursa drafted for him in the second game, but around the 25 minute mark VP were finally able to bring him down for the first time to stain his personal kills/deaths/assists record. Nonetheless, his Ursa proved to be too much for VP to deal with and Team Secret made their debut with a clean 2-0 victory, while MATUMBAMAN finished the series with an overall K/D/A of 27/1/8.

First day of group stage matches at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore is just at the start. All teams will get to play their first matches today, with the event running on three streams simultaneously. Team Secret have two more matches scheduled on day one.
