Nogh wins Project+ Singles at Frame Perfect Series 4: Online

Noah “Nogh” Sundook won Project+ Singles at Frame Perfect Series 4: Online on January 15. The Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod was one of many games featured at Jason “Mew2King” Zimmerman’s subscriber tournament.

As the tournament’s fifth seed, Nogh had to make a few upsets to finish in 1st place. He started his run with predictable 2-0 wins over John “Wombat” Derin and Colby “KinGly” G. Then in Winners Quarters, Nogh secured another 2-0 victory against the fourth seed, Shahid “Fearless” Jivani.

Nogh’s biggest upset of Frame Perfect Series 4: Online Project+ Singles came in Winners Semis. There, he defeated No. 1 seed Kyle “Switch” Carlon 3-1. In Winners Finals, Nogh earned a 3-2 win over an unexpected opponent, Rishi Malhotra. Rishi returned with a 3-2 win of his own in Grand Finals. Nevertheless, Nogh beat Rishi 3-0 in the second set of Grand Finals in order to win the tournament.

Nogh is best-known as a Donkey Kong player in Project+. In fact, he has even found moderate success with a worse version of Donkey Kong in Super Smash Bros. Melee. However, Nogh proved at this tournament that his Project+ roster is quite expansive. He also used R.O.B., Ivysaur, Charizard, and Bowser throughout the event.

While Rishi is best-known for playing Melee, he showed his skills transfer to Project+ at Frame Perfect Series 4: Online. His road to Winners Finals included impressive wins against Justin “Arsenals” Hampton, Zachary “Luncables” Sain, and Tyler “Fuzz” Graves. After his first loss to Nogh, Rishi beat Switch and Nogh before finally falling to Nogh again.

Yoshi main Tom “TomBo” Halchak had an unexpected run to 4th place at this event. After an early loss to Fuzz, he made a deep run through the losers bracket. On the way to top 8, TomBo eliminated James “Thesleek1” Merics, Forrest Griffin, and Jonathan “Dawn” Alvarez. He also defeated Fearless 3-0 and won his runback against Fuzz 3-0.

Juan “Zeus” Juarez impressively reached Project+ top 8 at Frame Perfect Series 4: Online using the low-tier Ganondorf. Zeus found himself in Winners Quarters after upsetting Brennan “FlashingFire” Connolly and Forrest. He also beat Jason “Captain Birdman” Erdman and took Lunchables to game five before finishing in 7th place.
