Nerd Street Gamers and Spectacor Gaming have expanded the scope of their all-women VALORANT invitational, the FTW Summer Showdown, thanks to a new partnership with Riot Games which will make the tournament an official Ignition Series event. As a result of the partnership, The FTW Summer Showdown will expand from eight teams to twelve, and increase its prize pool from $10K to $50K.
This deal makes the event VALORANT’s first-ever officially supported all-women tournament and brings its prize pool in line with other Ignition Series events which have featured top level professional esports organizations.
The FTW Summer Showdown will take place Sept. 11-13. In addition to Riot, the event is sponsored by esports organization T1 Entertainment & Sports and energy drink brand G FUEL.
