According to reports, Crash Bandicoot publisher Activision may be on the verge of announcing the newest instalment in the series framed around the adventures of a wacky marsupial in blue shorts.
A few days ago, Youtuber Canadian Guy Eh noticed several social media influencers posing with Crash Bandicoot figurines with little Santa hats on them.
With a few big events happening this week, many are suggesting that a new title could be revealed in the coming days.
The new game is likely to be announced at either Sony's next PlayStation State of Play livestream, that airs on YouTube tomorrow at 2pm.
Alternatively another key event, The Game Awards, also takes place Thursday and is famed for new game announcements alongside the awards.

The figurines set off all the alarms in the Crash Bandicoot fandom, as this mirrors a similar publicity move made by Activision last year.
In December 2018, Activision sent Crash Bandicoot themed Christmas cookies to influencers. This came ahead of their announcement of the Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled at the Game Awards a week later.
Rumours of a new Crash game have been floating around for a while, with the character appearing in a PlayStation promotional video that gave the audience a glimpse of him, alongside a new Aku Aku mask.
Since it hasn’t been confirmed by Activision, it could also be a promotional event for new content in current titles N’Sane Trilogy or Nitro-Fueled.
However, this seems unlikely given that PlayStation promotional content on buses also appears to showcase Crash with a brand new character model, much different from the current title.

This strongly suggests the announcement of a new game, which has rumoured to be named Crash Bandicoot Worlds.
The name was leaked by a source on 4Chan that has previously proved to be reliable, having leaked the existence of both the N’Sane Trilogy and Nitro-Fueled before they were officially announced by Activision.
Speaking of Crash Team Racing, Nitro-Fueled is a nominee for the best sports / racing game category at The Game Awards 2019, alongside F1 2019 and FIFA 2020.
Following the footsteps of the previous few titles, Crash Bandicoot Worlds is likely to be playable on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Fans of the franchise ought to keep an eye out for any glimpses of orange and blue at the events this week.
