Baldur’s Gate III reveal trailer – plus every confirmed game for Google Stadia

Google Stadia’s livestream event has played host to the first look at Baldur’s Gate III, plus new games Gylt, Get Packed, and 30 others.

The first new game reveal of E3 has proven to be Baldur’s Gate III, with a teaser trailer debuting during Google Stadia’s first ever livestream news event.

The teaser is pre-rendered, with no gameplay footage, so it doesn’t really give much away other than some sort of Lovecraftian monster seems to be taking over the storied city of Baldur’s Gate.

The game is being made by Belgium developer Larian Studios, who made the superb Divinity: Original Sin II – one of the best Western style role-players of all time and one of the very few games we’ve ever given a 10/10 score to.

The game isn’t a Stadia exclusive though and will also be released on PC as normal. It took Divinity: Original Sin II about a year to make it to consoles but it did manage it, so the same will probably happen with Baldur’s Gate III.

There’s very little information to discern about the game from the trailer or the brief developer interview during Google’s livestream, but it is mentioned the studio has had to triple its size to make the game.

The only other info is this official blurb from the press release:

Baldur’s Gate III is based off current D&D mechanics and spells and is the official new chapter in the legendary series.

Baldur’s Gate III will push the boundaries of the RPG genre and offer a rich narrative with unparalleled player freedom, high-stakes decisions, unique companion characters and memorable combat. It is Larian Studios’ biggest production ever and will be playable together with friends or as a single-player adventure.

In terms of other games, Google has clearly got Ubisoft’s full backing, as almost all their recent and upcoming games were confirmed, including Ghost Recon Breakpoint and The Division 2.

But there were also two brand new indie-looking games, with Get Packed by Shadow Point developer Coatsink appearing to offer some Overcooked! style four-player couch co-op action.

GYLT, by RiME developer Tequila Works, was especially interesting and seemed to be a stealth-orientated survival horror, that looked like Monsters, Inc. but if the monsters were actually scary.

You can see the full list of confirmed games below but many more are promised, with the logos below including Capcom, Rockstar Games, and EA – none of who has yet announced what they’ll be bringing to Stadia.
