Doesn’t time fly? It seems like everyone’s favourite rhythm action videogame Beat Saber has been doing the rounds and making everyone sweaty forever. But it has only been 12 short months, and so Beat Games has decided to celebrate by reminiscing about its roots, releasing Beat Saber Origin.
For this first anniversary, you’ll be able to play one of the earliest versions of the popular title, the build from November 2016 in fact. You’ll be able to appreciate how far the team has come in the last few years, seeing some of the older designs and what music had been implemented.
“This build represents the game which was only one month in development and had just one temporary song. Everything is a little bit rough around the edges, but the core is there and the game is playable,” states the team.
Because this is an early build it’s worth pointing out that Beat Saber Origin is not a full version of Beat Saber or a demo, there’s no UI menu and expect to come across some bugs. But who cares about those little things, it’s free and a bit of fun.
It has been quite the year for the Beat Saber team, with the videogame winning numerous awards, continually updated with improvements such as Expert+ mode as well as new music packs. It’ll be a launch title for Oculus Quest later this month, and it is even being used to raise money for charity in 2020.
Finding popularity first on PC VR headset like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Beat Saber then arrived for PlayStation VR in late 2018. It caught VR fans imagination with some catchy electronic tunes and some addictive saber swinging gameplay, that was not only fun but also energetic; many players have reported using the videogame to lose weight.
If you want to try Beat Saber Origin then follow this link to download the title, remember it’ll only work on SteamVR – so no anniversary celebration for PlayStation VR owners. As Beat Games continues to add more songs to the playlist VRFocus will maintain its coverage of Beat Saber, reporting back with the latest updates.
