Black Panther Coming To Marvel’s Avengers Later This Year

Marvel’s Avengers is adding another big name to its roster, as Black Panther will join the fight later this year. Black Panther will launch alongside new Hero Outfits, a Power Level cap increase, and feature a brand-new story.

The character is part of the War for Wakanda expansion, which – according to the latest roadmap from Square Enix – is slated to launch in the second half of 2021. Here’s what you’ll in the update besides Black Panther:

  • New Hero Outfits
  • Power Level cap increase
  • New Villains, including Klaw
  • New Klaw Faction enemies
  • New Story
  • New Wakanda Jungle Biome
  • New Outpost

Square Enix revealed the upcoming character during its Square Enix Presents Spring 2021 event – you can check out the announcement below:

Beyond Black Panther, a lot is happening in Marvel’s Avengers this year. Today marked the arrival of its massive next-gen update, while later this Spring we’ll see the Red Room Takeover and Tachyon Anomaly updates. Then in the Summer, the Cosmic Cube and Wasteland Patrol will launch, providing you with new War Zones and Assignments. The entire roadmap is fairly extensive – you check out the full details here.

While there’s a lot of new content planned, players are already worried about the lack of announced heroes. Hawkeye is only the second new playable character since launch, but he’s eerily similar to Kate Bishop – the first addition to the roster. Now, players might have to wait about six months before they can step into the shoes of a new character.

On the bright side, Black Panther will likely feature a playstyle that’s radically different from both Kate Bishop and Hawkeye – unless Square Enix decides to give him a bow.

For now, you’ll have the chance to run around as Hawkeye on next-gen systems, which should provide a massive upgrade in terms of visuals and performance. The update to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is free for current players, so make sure to check out the enhancements if you’re lucky enough to have one of the shiny new consoles.
