Hidden within the Bugsnax sidequests are a series of pseudo-boss fights against some one-of-a-kind superbugs. The only way to add these bugsnax to your collection is by completing quest chains for specific characters. If you’re facing off against the Megamaki in Boiling Bay, or if you simply need to know how to find it, here’s our Megamaki walkthrough.
Wiggle Gets Inspired
The Megamaki can be found as part of Wiggle’s sidequest line. After finding Wiggle in the Simmering Springs and convincing her to come back to Snaxburg, a new quest chain will be available called Wiggle Gets Inspired.
First, Wiggle wants you to find and catch two sub sandopedes. You can find the sandopede in Flavor Falls. All you need to do is place a trip shot in its path and all of the individual sub sandopedes will be stunned. Use the net to scoop up two of them and bring them back to Wiggle.
For the next step, Wiggle wants one white cheepoof. The white version of the cheepoof is found in Scorched Gorge between the hours of 6:00 PM and 4:00 AM. There is a bed at the top of Sorched Gorge where you meet Cromdo, sleep in the bed and set the alarm for midnight. To catch the white cheepood, drop a lunchpad, put the snak trap on top of it, and aim it at the cheepoof. If you release the aim while targetting the cheepoof it will automatically lock on. Launch the trap and then activate it when it turns blue to catch the cheepoof, then bring it back to Wiggle.
Catching The Megamaki
Finally, Wiggle will take you to Boiling Bay to catch the Megamaki. Start by scanning the Megamaki so you can see the path it travels on, then use the vertical posts to place a trip shot in it’s path to stun it, just like the sandopede.
The Megamaki can not be captured until all of the minimakis are caught, so as soon as you stun the monster start running around and scoop up as many minimakis with the net as possible. While you’re looking for them, the Megamaki will charge at you and try to knock you away. Do your best to avoid the Mega or risk losing precious time.
You won’t be able to catch them all at once. The Megamaki will reform with the minimakis and start flying around the beach again. Its flight path will change every time, so make sure you place a trip shot where it will get hit.
Because of the way the minimakis scatter, its possible one may get stuck somewhere. If you ever see the Megamaki flying around by itself without any minimakis make sure you look all around in case a mini is stuck somewhere. If you can’t find it anywhere, you may need to leave the area and restart.
Once you’ve scooped up all the minis the Megamaki will shrink, making him capturable just with the net just like the minimakis were. Now, just feed the Megamaki to Wiggle and you’ll finish her quest line!
