A number of job openings at Activision strongly suggest that Call Of Duty: Warzone is coming to mobile.
While Activision already has a Call Of Duty mobile game called… Call Of Duty Mobile, there are signs that it’s looking to port its battle royale game Call Of Duty Warzone to mobile as well.
A job advertisement from September last year seemed to blatantly give it away and now Activision is looking for a lot of new mobile developers to join the company.
Recently, Activision posted a call to arms on LinkedIn and, while the post doesn’t explicitly mention Warzone for mobile, the post does come from Activision Mobile specifically.
‘Activision Mobile has put up new roles! Teams are focused on Live Operations and content expansion across Call Of Duty. Our dev teams are dedicated to mobile and comprised of all major disciplines.’
In addition, the accompanying hashtags include Warzone, which strongly suggests that the company plans on putting the game on mobile devices.
A search for mobile related jobs on Activision’s website brings up at least 40 available positions so, at the very least, it looks like Activision is putting more focus on bringing the Call Of Duty series to mobile.
While it’s unlikely to stop supporting Call Of Duty Mobile any time soon, Warzone’s increasing success only makes it more and more likely that Activision would want it on more platforms.
Not too long ago, Raven Software’s studio director confirmed that a team was working on a dedicated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S update. Currently, Warzone can only be played on those systems through backwards compatibility.
Other major plans for Warzone’s future may also involve crossovers. Recently, Activision have teased that both Rambo and Die Hard’s John McClane will appear in the game in some way, most likely by making them playable characters.
Call Of Duty: Warzone is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
