Gamers just received a ton of new content in Call of Duty Warzone as part of the Season 5 rollout, and it appears another patch is heading our way.
Developers Raven Software held back on making sweeping weapon changes for the start of the new season, but it doesn’t appear it’s going to stay that way.
New patch notes have appeared online that suggest the dev team are planning to nerf some leading weapons and boost those that have fallen out of favour.
The Call of Duty Warzone meta continually changes as new gear is added to the game, and there have been seasons when things have felt very unbalanced.
This has sometimes left just a few weapons viable to help push you to the final circle, although recent months have been a little different.
And it looks like the new big Warzone update will drop some more changes that will help shift the meta again.
We don’t know when this new Warzone update is going to arrive, but there’s a good chance of something happening on August 17 or August 18.
This is around the time technical patches are released for the game, with Tuesdays fitting the regular pattern.
The source for these new Season 5 changes comes directly from Raven, who appear to have early patch notes for the upcoming update.
This includes details on what weapons are being nerfed, along with other stat changes. A mix of guns from Modern Warfare and Cold War are being tweaked, including the Fennec.
This SMG will reportedly see a jump in Bullet Velocity, which could rank it up in the current meta.
MW’s Submachine Gun Charlie is seeing reductions in its Maximum Damage and Max Damage range, which could make it less effective when roaming Verdansk.
The AMP 63 Pistols will also reportedly be nerfed alongside the M19 Akimbo loadout.
So gamers will want to keep an eye on August 16 to find out whether Raven Software has any big plans to release this new patch over the coming days or not.
And this won’t be the only big thing being planned for Call of Duty Warzone this week.
It’s rumoured that Activision will use Warzone once again to reveal its next Call of Duty game. Call of Duty Vanguard will reportedly be revealed in Warzone on Thursday, August 19, as part of a new event.
Call of Duty Warzone: Activision teases latest update
It’s unclear what this will contain but as there are already a number of teasers being shared online and unlocked via Warzone, there’s a good bet we we learn more about it over the next 48-hours.
Recent Warzone events have included players completing some kind of mission or set of objectives while also battling other teams across Verdansk or Rebirth Island.
Something similar is expected to happen this week, and is likely connected to the Red Doors being found around Verdansk.
A recent message from Raven regarding a Season 5 event teases: “Whatever broadcast Perseus set up is causing the Red Doors to become more volatile than ever before, as Operators are now reporting [[REDACTED]] in their post-mission briefings.
“Beware of these doors sending you to locations other than the main room we all thought to be its lone destination point, and above all else, keep your head.”
“This event may also have something to do with those Mobile Broadcast Stations seen around Verdansk… but at this time, we cannot declassify further intel for fear of double agents.”
This could be part of the upcoming Vanguard reveal, or be another event planned for Call of Duty during Season 5.
