Dust 2, perhaps the most famous map in all of Counter-Strike history, is coming to Fortnite.
This doesn’t get nearly as much press as it deserves, but Fortnite actually allows creative folks to create their own maps and game modes. It’s called Fortnite Creative, and Epic has basically given out a whole bunch of developer tools and told modders and level-makers to go hog wild.
One such group of level-makers, called Team Evolve, did exactly that. They’re the guys who made the map and game mode for last year’s Fortnite Creative Showdown at the Fortnite World Cup, so you know whatever they come up with will be quality.
And what they came up with was actually ripping off CS:GO and recreating Dust 2 in Fortnite.
Perhaps that’s a little harsh. Team Evolve still had to create the whole map from scratch, including lighting, textures, and objects. What they didn’t have to create was the game mode, as Fortnite recently added a very Search and Destroy-esque option which essentially lifts the whole concept from Counter-Strike.
Considering Fortnite: Battle Royale is basically just one big ripoff of PUBG, this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.
Anywhoodle, for the complete CS:GO experience, Hand Cannons (or Desert Eagles, as they’re lovingly referred to in CS:GO) will be a common option, as will sniper rifles. In addition to Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch, FFA Deathmatch, and Gun Game will also be available.
Sadly, wall-banging (ie. shooting through walls and other objects) is sadly not available as Fortnite‘s code just doesn’t support it.
You can see the map in action thanks to this recently posted video. Reddit user gladboii lets us know that the map will be out tomorrow for everyone to enjoy a bit of CS:GO in Fortnite. Y’know, in case you can’t be bothered to download a free-to-play game on Steam.
If things go well, Team Evolve might even try their hands at other CS:GO maps, including Inferno and Mirage.
