Destiny 2 Weekly Reset: Devil’s Ruin Exotic, Legend Sundial and update news

The Season of the Dawn is well underway, and as we wait for Destiny 2's second weekly update of the year, you can read about what Bungie is planning to do with the game in 2020 at the link.

If you Bungie’s shared-world, loot-packed shooter can enjoy a weekly reset every week – where the game resets and allows you to get fresh rewards for activities once again.

Every Tuesday, a huge amount of events and activities get their progression and rewards reset and/or removed, so Guardians will want to polish off any of the outstanding tasks before the game winds it all back:

• Milestone progress and rewards reset for Crucible, Gambit, Nightfall, Flashpoint
• Daily Heroic Mission, Strikes, Clan XP, Vex Incursion
• Raid progress and rewards
• Eververse inventory
• Xur – make sure you've got his most recent wares (he will return with new items on Friday at 5pm)

Keep reading for the key details of what we expect to appear in this week's reset.

Destiny 2 Horned Wreath | Destiny 2 Captive Cord | Destiny 2 Ethereal Charms | Destiny 2 Withered Plumes | Destiny 2 Bound Manacle | Destiny 2 Necromantic Strand | Destiny 2 Leviathan’s Breath Quest | Destiny 2 Xenophage Quest

Thanks to the essential infographic above, you can see everything you'll need to mop up before 5pm this evening .

There are three Nightfall tasks with their own special rewards you can partake in, as well as a series of Strike tasks you can engage with, too (play Strikes as your Void subclass to get items this week).

You may also want to jump into the Leviathan to finish off any outstanding Raid tasks that may need to be sorted out.

As ever, completing 8 bounties for Shaxx, Zavala, the Drifter or the Gunsmith will also get you Tier 1 Powerful Gear, too.

The full rundown of what you need to complete can be found at Niris.tv .

January 7 – Xur

This week you'll find Xur in on IO , near Giant's Scar . He's selling the stock listed below, and he'll disappear once the Reset takes places.

Here's what he's selling:

• Lord of Wolves – Shotgun – 29 Legendary Shards
• St0mp-EE5 – Hunter Leg Armor – 23 Legendary Shards
• Dunemarchers – Titan Leg Armor – 23 Legendary Shards
• Sanguine Alchemy – Warlock Chest Armor – 23 Legendary Shards

January 7 – Information Update

This week, we'll see the first This Week at Bungie in nearly a month!

So you can expect the developers to return to the fold with some more updates about what's going to happen in the coming weeks and months, as well as some more specific information about the smaller changes that'll be made in next week's reset.

So we can expect Bungie to do some housekeeping and let us know about the future, but the next Roadmap update after today isn't due to land until January 28.

January 7 – Devil's Ruin Exotic

Bungie is adding a new quest to the game this Reset, allowing you to acquire the new Exotic Sidearm, Devil's Ruin.

The specs for the gun can be found below:

  • Type: Solar Sidearm
  • Close the Gap: Variable trigger. Press and release to fire individual shots. Hold to charge up a high-powered, staggering laser. Strong against Unstoppable Champions.
  • Pyrogenesis: Fully charging the laser refills the magazine from reserves.
  • Magazine: 15
  • RPM: 300
  • Charge Time: 1000

The path to adding this weapon to your roster seems a bit slower and kinder than other Exotic weapon quests – you seemingly just need to get the quest, complete a mission on the EDZ then head to Saint-14.

We'll have a full guide for you in time, but be prepared for this new Sidearm to enter the fray tomorrow.

January 7 – Legend Sundial

A new Legend version of this Season's event starts this week – the Legend Sundial.

It's looking like this will be a 950 Light Level requirement activity that won't feature matchmaking (unlike the vanilla version of the activity).

Details are scarce about the new content right now – all we know is that you'll need to complete the event if you want the Season of the Dawn seal in your Triumphs.

We'll update you as we learn more!
