Fan game takes organising Resident Evil’s inventory screen to the next level

If you're still desperately waiting for Capcom to announce that Resident Evil 4 Remake which we know is coming, we might have the perfect game to play in the meantime.

As spotted by The Metro, someone has made a standalone game that is entirely focused on Resident Evil 4's inventory screen.

"The goal is to make all the items fit in your inventory, while all your guns are loaded and your life is not too low. Arrange items to make them fit," reads a small blurb for 'Save Room – Organization Puzzle' on Steam.

For those of you who haven't been blessed with the chance to play Resident Evil 4 before, the gist was that a players inventory had a limited amount of space and you'd need to occasionally rotate items around to squeeze them in.

Take a look at the game in action on the trailer, just below.

Save Room is essentially riffing on that to create a series of puzzles for players to solve, we imagine with increasing difficulties as you progress. Even the background music sounds vaguely familiar.

Whilst 'Save Room' isn't available on your PlayStation or Xbox console like most Resi games, if you've got a pretty basic PC you should be able to play it just fine through Steam, where it will release in just over a week on April 28.

For now the game doesn't have a price, but given that developer and publisher Fractal Projects has so far released 5 games at just 79p each, we doubt Save Room is going to break the bank.

As we noted at the start, a remake of Resident Evil 4 is allegedly in the works and gamers are all collectively waiting for Capcom to announce the project.

As noted by VGC in February, Capcom will reportedly reveal the game this year, along with detailing some of the key changes they're making.

Importantly, the VGC report from last year suggests that Capcom isn't developing a shot-for-shot remake of the original title, but that the remake will have some new elements.

A follow up report from Fanbyte gave one indication of how this might look, writing:

“In Resident Evil 4 Remake, the famous village introduction set piece takes place at night. As does a decent portion of the rest of the game"

The remake was supposedly greenlit following the success of the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3‘s remakes. Let's just hope the Resi 4 remake lives up to its iconic reputation.
