Fortnite season 9: When is Fortnite season 9 release date? When does season 8 end?

FORTNITE SEASON 9 RELEASE DATE – UPDATE ONE: The Fortnite season 9 release date has been confirmed by Epic Games.

Just as predicted, Fortnite season 9 is out on Thursday May 9 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, PCs and Mac.

The Fortnite season 9 release date was revealed by Epic Games alongside the first teaser for the upcoming Battle Pass on Twitter.

The Fortnite season 9 teaser shows a mysterious skin and was tweeted alongside the message: “The Future is Unknown. 5.9.2019 #FortniteSeason9”.

Fans have been speculating whether Fortnite season 9 could have a time travel or space theme.

And if that’s the case then maybe these themes are tied into the rumours that the current Fortnite map could get destroyed and replaced with a new one at the start of season 9.

If Epic Games follows previous release schedules then Fortnite servers could go down around 8.30am UK time on Fortnite season 9 launch day.

This could then be followed by the Fortnite season 9 patch releasing around 9am BST, with patch notes out around then as well.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite season 9 release date could have been revealed by Epic Games. Here’s what we know about when season 9 could start and the season 8 end date.

Fortnite season 8 is out now bringing with it more than 100 new exclusive rewards to unlock in the Battle Pass.

The current Battle Pass is back to being 10 weeks long after the previous Fortnite season was 12 weeks due to Epic staff going on a Christmas break.

And Epic Games could have revealed when the Fortnite season 9 release date will be.

The Fortnite season 8 Battle Pass has a countdown in it showing how much time is left in the current season.

The countdown – at the time of writing – says the final full day of Fortnite season 8 will be Wednesday May 8 2019.

Judging by past release schedules, this means that Fortnite season 9 could have a release date the following day – Thursday May 9 2019.

If that’s the case then Fortnite season 9 will arrive 10 weeks after the launch of Fortnite season 8 – barring any delays.

In terms of a start time, Epic Games typically begins server downtime for their new Fortnite seasons at 9am UK time, which is 4am eastern and 1am pacific.

So, for fans in the UK Fortnite season 9 is likely to launch at 9am on the big release day in May 2019.

Fortnite season 9 will surely bring with it new skins, challenges and maybe even new map locations for Battle Royale fans.

It’s unclear what the Fortnite season 9 Battle Pass theme will be and what major event could spark it.

Fortnite season 8 has a pirate theme, with new locations such as a port POI and a Volcano added to the Battle Royale map.

The latter could prove a clue as to what the theme of the Fortnite season 9 Battle Pass will be.

Epic Games has long teased that new maps are going to be added to Fortnite Battle Royale.

Answering the question ‘will you add more maps’ on the Fortnite FAQ page, Epic Games said: “Yes, but not right away.

“Currently, we’ll continue making improvements to our existing map, including adding more points of interest.”

This answer has been on the Fortnite FAQ page for the majority of last year, so a completely new map has been in the pipelines for a long time.

Maybe the newly added Fortnite Volcano could have big ramifications for Battle Royale?

Could the Fortnite Volcano erupt at the end of Fortnite season 8 and result in the current map being destroyed, with a new one arriving with season 9?

That remains to be seen, but whatever Epic Games has planned for Fortnite season 9 it will surely leave fans surprised.
