Little Nightmares II lives up to the success of its predecessor. Like the previous installment, this game manages to create moments of tension that culminate in frantic scenarios. It’s hard not to care about Mono, protagonist of this title, and his friend Six, whom we play as in the first Little Nightmares.
If you haven’t beaten the game yet, be warned that there are major spoilers ahead. Before getting into those, however, you might not know that the game actually has two endings. These aren’t based on your choices since the game is linear. Rather, it’s like an Avengers post-credits scene you can unlock if you meet a certain criteria.
Find All Glitched Children
Simply put, this is how you unlock the secret ending. Glitched Remains are, essentially, scattered collectible children around gameplay areas. They are very hard to find, since they are well hidden away from the beaten path. In total, there are 18 Glitched Remains to find. Running into each one will reward you with the secret ending of the game.
You might have found a couple of these strange apparitions in your playthrough. If not, you can recognize them from their overall static appearance, which produces a buzzing noise when you interact with them. They look like kids out of a television, who are somehow still carrying a video signal with them.
Track Your Progress
Little Nightmares II isn’t especially long, but there are plenty of scary moments and areas to explore. This can make Glitched Remains hard to find, since you never know when it’s safe to move ahead and look for them elsewhere. Luckily, you can track your progress using the game’s menu.
In the chapter selection screen, you can browse through each of the game’s levels. On the bottom, you can keep track of any collectibles you have already found, and see how many are still missing. This applies to both Hats and Glitched Remains.
Use The Camera
The perspective in Little Nightmares II can feel a little tricky sometimes. In truth, the camera angle is a little nightmare to deal with, in its own right. Some of the forced angles are positioned in such a dastardly way that they can easily throw off your depth perception, making certain jumps tedious to deal with. These angles also cleverly hide secret tunnels or platforming sections that lead to Glitched Remains.
You can somewhat move the camera around to peek at the path ahead, back, or up and down. Sometimes, this will reveal whole sections of a level where a Glitched Remain is found.
Check Every Nook And Cranny
The best thing you can do is take some time with exploration as if you were in deep space. Go slowly and interact with everything you see, jump on everything that looks climbable, and go all the way down areas that seem like dead ends. You will eventually run into boxes you can move or planks you can jump on, which seclude hidden areas to Glitched Remains.
Approaching the task this way requires some trial and error. Don’t grow frustrated if you find yourself going over and over some spots. Certain Glitched Remains are pretty hard to reach, even once you see where they are.
Glitched Remains: Chapter 1
If exploration isn’t for you, and you just want to know where to find Glitched Remains, read on. The very first one you can find is into a cave just before the fallen bridge you can climb. Instead of climbing the bridge like a ladder, go straight. You’ll go into the cave and eventually reach a shovel. That’s where you’ll find the first child.
Next, just before the first section full of hidden bear traps, you’ll find another child in a cave to the left, after falling down a slide made from a tree trunk. After freeing Six, you’ll eventually run into a wooden latrine with a heart-shaped incision. Six will boost you up to the door’s handle, which opens the bathroom to reveal the third Glitched Remain. Lastly, after riding across the water and away from the woods, you can find the final child of the chapter standing next to a television on the beach.
Glitched Remains: Chapter 2
In the abandoned building before the school, Six will catch you after making a dangerous jump. Climb the stairs and go all the way to the left. You will find the first glitched child standing next to a suspended television, looking down into the abyss. Next, right before entering the school, you can find a tricycle with a Glitched Remain in the yard.
On the left of the elevator unlocked with a key, you can find another child inside one of the lockers. In the large hall with the fallen clock, go up the stairs and to the left to come across a remain sitting by two bottles. At one point, you will need to use a tray rack to go into the kitchen. Before doing that, go back to the door blocked by the rack to enter the freezer room, where another Glitched Remain is found. Lastly, near the end of the level, you can find the sixth child next to the paper boat floating in a puddle.
Glitched Remains: Chapter 3
Upon passing the metal gate and entering the hospital, go all the way down the first creepy hallway instead of going to the right. You will find a red cartwheel wagon with a Glitched Remain. Next, you will enter the operation room full of suspended arms and legs. Keep going until you find a door with a partly broken screen. Then, go all the way down that hallway (instead of entering the door) to find the second glitch.
After getting separated from Six, you end up in a cell with a toilet. Exit the cell, and rather than following the camera pointing forward, move backward to find a gap in the barred entryway. Head left to enter another cell housing the third Glitched Remain. Finally, move the box found in the shower room to reveal a ventilation duct. It will lead you to the last child to find in the chapter.
Glitched Remains: Chapter 4
At the beginning of the chapter, you will find an open manhole in the street. Fall into it and grab the ladder to avoid injury, to find the first glitched child. After solving the first elevator platforming section, go to the left and move a box to reveal a ventilation duct. Go inside to find the next Glitched Remain.
Instead of climbing the wooden structure on the rooftop overlooking the radio tower, go to the right and inside a window to enter a room holding the third child. The final collectible Glitched Remain in the game is located right after the zipline section, where Mono uses a hanger to enter an apartment. Instead of moving forward, go out of the window Mono enters from. On the rooftop, go to the back to enter another open window. The last child is standing next to a statuette of The Lady from the original Little Nightmares.
