Mister Torgue’s Arena of Badassery Brings Borderlands Mayhem To Tabletop

Borderlands is hitting the tabletop. Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery recently got its Kickstarter started and it's already hit $700,000 of its initial goal of $80,00.

From tabletop gaming dev Monster Fight Club, Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery has Vault Hunters cooperatively take part in several different campaigns, each with different victory conditions and enemies to blast into itty bitty pieces.

The crux of Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery is Monster Fight Club's "[Re]Action System," which uses three color-coded dice to dictate a character's actions. After picking your four Vault Hunters and setting up the game board, the Vault Hunters will go first before the enemies get their turn. Each Vault Hunter has its own unique set of skills that can be improved over the course of the game by upgrading their skill trees.

And just like every Borderlands game, there are tons of guns to find too.

Like any good tabletop game, Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery comes with a ton of miniatures. The base game includes 45 minis: one for each Vault Hunter, plus many more for enemies including Skags, Goliaths, Psychos, Marauders, and Tinks. There's also more than 80 double-sided hex tiles to create each campaign's map, a rulebook and base campaign, skill trees for each Vault Hunter, loot tokens and a loot bag, dice, and over 400 playing cards.

The Skags at the Gates expansion adds 40 more double-sided hex tiles, more game cards, the Big Game Hunt campaign, and 15 more Skag minis. Plus there are tons of stretch goals that have already been unlocked, such as Krieg, Claptrap the Fragtrap, Maya, Lilith, and Zero as playable Vault Hunters, as well as lots more minis. Future stretch goals will unlock Brick, Flesh-Stick, McShooty, and more, and they seem pretty likely to happen given the rate at which this Kickstarter is closing in on a million bucks.

Shipping is international, but it'll be $35-$40 for European and UK residents. The base game is $85 USD, while the Skags at the Gates expansion and all unlocked stretch goals will hit you for $135 USD. Shipping is expected in November of 2022, but Kickstarters aren't exactly known for having accurate estimates during the COVID era.
