In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Event Quests are periodically added to the game, offering unique rewards for completing them. Usually, Event Quests differ from normal quests through various parameters, like changing the size of monsters or pitting monsters against each other.

In the Master Rank Event Quest 'Another Grand Gesture', you will have the main goal of hunting a Garangolm. However, during the quest, other monsters may appear, making this task a little less straightforward. Let's take a look at how to beat this quest, the best equipment to use, and what the rewards are.

Another Grand Gesture Event Quest Guide

In this quest, your main objective is to hunt a Garangolm in the arena. However, when you enter the quest, one other random will also appear. The monsters that can appear include Basarios, Barioth, Khezu, or Kulu-Ya-Ku.

These monsters do not need to be hunted to complete the quest, and leaving them alone or hunting them both have benefits. In any case, your main goal is Garangolm, whose strengths and weaknesses are detailed below.

Garangolm's Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Weak Points – Head, Left and Right Arm
  • Elemental/Ailment Weakness – Thunder, Blast
  • Elemental/Ailment Resistance – Water, Dragon, Exhaust

Garangolm is weakest to Thunder, and slightly less weak to Blast damage. This monster is weakest to attacks on its head and both arms, which can be difficult due to the number of frontal attacks Garangolm uses.

Best Equipment To Use

A Thunder element weapon will work the best, with a Blast element weapon working slightly less well. Avoid using weapons with Water or Dragon elemental damage, as Garangolm completely resists these elements.

For armor, bring either equipment with high overall defense, or sets with good Fire or Water defensive stats. When Garangolm is enraged, it will attack using these elements.

Slow but heavy-hitting weapons work best against Garangolm, especially the Greatsword, Hammer, and Charge Blade. Because Garangolm's head is lifted off the ground slightly, short-range weapons like Dual Blades and Sword and Shield may have a harder time hitting this weak point, making these weapons unfavorable.

Tips For Hunting Garangolm

The main thing to watch out for when hunting Garangolm is its enraged attacks. When it thrusts its arms into the ground and coats them with moss and lava rocks, it has entered its enraged state. While enraged, Garangolm will use a variety of high-damage attacks, like jumping high into the air before slamming both fists down, or charging forward, dealing massive damage.

Attack its arms to knock it out of the enraged state and return the monster to normal.

You can use the other monster in the arena to your advantage. If you or Garangolm attack it enough to enter Wyvern Riding, you can inflict sizable damage on Garangolm while mounted. Alternatively, you can choose to hunt this monster first to make focusing on Garangolm easier. No other monsters will appear in the arena after this one is hunted.

Use the fence in the center of the arena to split it in half and separate the monsters from each other for a short while.

Another Grand Gesture Event Quest – Rewards

Upon completing this quest, you will receive two gestures that can be used to communicate with other hunters. These include the Accept Praise gesture and the Proud gesture.

Additionally, you will receive normal quest rewards for hunting Garangolm, and bonus rewards if you hunt or capture the other monster in the arena.
