Consumer virtual reality (VR) is suitable for all age ranges, from the young to the old, yet senior citizens may struggle to learn about the technology and accessing the right content. Which is where MyndVR comes in, helping provide solutions for senior care communities. The company has just announced the launch of MyndVR 2.0, which has been helped by a partnership with HTC’s VIVE X accelerator.
MyndVR looks to provide VR experiences to seniors revolving around meaningful content with a purpose. The company’s library of content spans travel, music, art, nature and reminiscence therapies through a strategic partnership with Littlstar. Then there’s MyndVR Studios which is creating content in-house for specific age-related conditions.
“Our goal is to lift the quality of life and the spirits of the senior citizens across the country,” said Chris Brickler, co-founder and CEO of MyndVR in a statement. “We have the ability to bring in a super-engaging technology to these folks – more engaging than TV, more engaging than newspapers. This is a true immersive technology that provides joy and takes people out of the four walls of their existence.”
MyndVR was selected to be part of HTC Vive X’s fourth batch of companies in 2018. Thanks to that, MyndVR is deploying branded HTC Vive Focus headsets to provide easy-to-use, all-in-one immersive experiences for seniors, with care partners controlling the experience via a tablet.
“At Vive we believe in VR’s potential to reshape humanity for the better using emerging technology and we’re excited to work with MyndVR to bring virtual reality content to improve the lives of senior populations,” said Cher Wang, Chairwoman and CEO of HTC. “Through these positive and life-like experiences, with the help of Vive Focus, virtual reality is improving the quality of life for these individuals and we’re proud to be a part of this life-changing initiative.”
Currently, MyndVR 2.0 is deployed across more than 20 states in the US with the platform also available to care partners worldwide. As MyndVR continues to expand and improve its platform for seniors, VRFocus will keep you updated.
