Similarly to how Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fuelled were announced, press kits have been sent out that hint that a new Crash Bandicoot game is going to be announced at The Game Awards.
As showcased by YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh, press kits have been sent out to reveal that It's About Time will be coming to Steam October 18. Although it's exciting enough to finally have some news on Crash after so long, the press kit also teases that a new Crash Bandicoot game is going to be announced at The Game Awards December 8.
Canadian Guy Eh showed off the package that he received, which was a pizza box themed around Aku-Aku called "Aku-Aku's Steam-In Pizza Shack", a clear joke about It's About Time coming to Steam. A sticker on the side of the box says, "Hungry for more? Try our new Wumpa Pizza for $12.08!"
The pricing of the pizza and the name of it are two pretty clear hints as to what's being teased here. For starters, 12.08 is clearly a reference to December 8, the date for this year's Game Awards showcase. The name of the pizza "Wumpa Pizza" is also another big hint that the game in question that's going to be revealed is the long-rumoured Wumpa League.
For those who aren't aware, Wumpa League is reportedly a multiplayer take on Crash Bandicoot that has you and other players competing to earn Wumpa across a map. It was seemingly supposed to release around the same time as It's About Time, but was delayed for unknown reasons, despite still being teased with a logo in-game and through several posts on Crash's social media. With most of Activision Blizzard's staff being put on Call of Duty amidst its "frat boy" office culture accusations and subsequent lawsuits, it was assumed to have been cancelled.
As recently as this year, insiders have confirmed that it's still in development, although it's seemingly changed quite a bit since its initial reveal. A poster for Wumpa League was even leaked by insider Liam Robertson, who published several reports on the game. The pizza being called "Wumpa Pizza" is a clear nod to that game, making it likely to be what we see at The Game Awards.
