Final Fantasy 7 is one of the biggest games in PlayStation's illustrious history and in 2020 Square-Enix will finally release their long overdue remake.
Early previews of the game have ear marked the remake as one of the numerous front runners for 2020's game of the year.
Between Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us 2, Halo Infinite and a handful of other games already scheduled to launch, FF7 has quite a few heavy hitters to compete with, but it's certainly in the running.
However, one of the features that made Resident Evil 2 an early contender for 2019's game of the year list was the fantastic fan response to the games One Shot demo.
Critically it perhaps didn't help, but it did create some early buzz amongst the games core fanbase and wider console users who perhaps didn't get to experience the game on PSOne.
And it appears as though Square Enix are now looking to follow Capcom's lead with their own Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo.
Though not officially announced, the website Gamestat, which tracks new additions to the PSN store, has spotted a listing for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo, complete with a custom logo (seen above).

When is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo Coming Out?
As mentioned previously, the demo has leaked early and whilst it's all but confirmed, it hasn't been officially announced and therefore has no release date.
That being said, discovering the assets on the store would suggest that it can't be too far away from release. Especially with the full game due 3 March, 2020.
The majority of PlayStation store updates occur on Tuesday's so it's possible, but not guaranteed that the demo could drop this coming Tuesday.
That said, as pointed out by fans on the FF7 Remake sub-reddit, the store has released demo's on various days throughout the week (Nioh 2 – Friday, Blood and Truth – Thursday), so it's possible that all we're waiting for is Square-Enix to pull the trigger.
We're certainly hoping that the publisher isn't waiting for January 31st, which would mark the 23rd anniversary of the game's original release.

What content will be playable in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo?
At the time of writing it's as yet unknown what section of the game will be playable.
However, we would imagine that players will be able to experience the same cross section of gameplay available at E3 2019 and the various gaming events in the second half of 2019.
For those unaware, this was the bombing mission at the start of the game, which comprised of some smaller fights with Shinra guards and concludes with the Guard Scorpion boss fight.
Whilst a lot of players at events such as Gamescom, EGX and so many more key events may have already played this section of the game, the vast majority of players may still be in the dark how the game translates to modern consoles.
What is Final Fantasy 7 Remake?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a reimagining of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre, diving deeper into the world and its characters than ever before.
The first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience, providing a great starting point to the series that dives deeper into the events occurring in Midgar than the original game.
Along with unforgettable characters and a powerful story, Final Fantasy 7 Remake features a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.
Will Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo release on Xbox?
We doubt it. Sorry Xbox One owners, we don't want to get your hopes up.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a timed exclusive to PlayStation for one year and it will eventually come to Xbox further down the line.
However, we doubt that the demo would be available on Xbox One in 2020 before the games 'exclusive' PS4 release.
We imagine a demo will be available for Xbox at some point in the future, but it's unlikely to arrive until 2021.
