There's no denying that the world could use some saving at the moment. Sadly, we do not have magic wands and featureless animate dolls to save us from all the world's ills like we do in Nobody Saves The World, the new top-down action RPG from Guacamelee devs Drinkbox Studios. And it just got a release date too.
First announced last March during Microsoft's [email protected] Twitch Gaming Showcase, Nobody Saves the World tells the story of Nobody, a blank canvas of a character if there ever was one. Nobody's claim to fame is that they can transform into anything, from rats to horses to magicians to kung-fu masters. It's up to Nobody to save the world from an onslaught of monsters and find the great mage Nostromagus to prevent the end of the world.
Check out the trailer below and you’ll get a sense of this game’s quirky sense of horse-based humor.
The game plays a lot like Binding of Isaac. Your various forms will give you abilities to take on the monstrous hordes, such as firing a bajillion arrows as a ranger or just flexing your pecs as a weird muscle dude. New forms are unlocked through a progression tree that eventually lets you combine abilities in weird and wonderful ways.
Nobody Saves the World features dozens of procedurally generated dungeons, hundreds of quests handed out from interesting NPC characters (at least one of which is a living hammer), and tons of character customization so you can play the game just the way you like it. There's even multiplayer co-op.
Best of all, you won't have to wait too long to play Nobody Saves the World. The game arrives on January 18 on Xbox and PC via Steam. It'll also arrive as a day-one release on Game Pass for those that have signed up for Xbox's great subscription service.
