Obsidian’s Grounded Has Amassed 5 Million Players In Six Months

Grounded has only been on the market for six months, yet its already managed to find its way into the hands of more than 5 million players. It’s recently been optimized for Series X/S, and developer Obsidian only expects Grounded to become more popular in the coming days.

When the game crossed the million player threshold, Xbox Game Studios’ Marcus Morgan lost a bet he had with the team at Obsidian. However, Grounded hit one million players within 48 hours of launching – so both parties decided to up the ante to 5 million. Well – Morgan lost that one, too. However, his punishment for losing the bet isn’t that bad, as he’s getting a pretty slick tattoo of BURG.L, an important character in the world of Grounded. You can check it out in the video below:

Grounded recently added a bunch of new content with its Koi Pond update. Anyone who jumps into the game will now find a whole new biome populated with new enemies, items, and the Jaws-like Koi Fish. There are also new crafting recipes for weapons such as the Bone Trident and Pebblet Dagger to help you fend off the creepy new foes.

Grounded is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. If you’re a Game Pass subscriber, you can check out the pint-sized, backyard action for free.
