PlayStation is getting into the holiday season by offering a huge discount on their PlayStation Plus subscription. From now until December 19, new or returning subscribers can get a 12-month subscription for half the usual price. That puts the normally $59.99 cost down to just $29.99 for access to an entire year of monthly games and exclusive discounts.
For those that have let their subscription expire or have yet to try it out, this deal is a great opportunity to try it out or hop back in. Unfortunately, preexisting members cannot cash in on this deal. While you may be tempted to cancel your current membership and sign back up using this discount, don’t waste your time. Any active PlayStation Plus subscription will not allow the discount to go through and canceling your membership will still allow you to use it until it naturally runs out at the end of the month.
PlayStation Plus is required to take advantage of online multiplayer to play with friends and compete in online tournaments. Plus it gives subscribers monthly games to try out. Each month, new PlayStation 4 titles are added for users to try as well as regularly added PlayStation 5 games. These games are playable on both next-gen and last-gen consoles and are yours to keep as long as you are a member of the service. Also, members get access to exclusive deals on games, add-ons, preorders, and much more from the PlayStation Store.
The sale may be the perfect time for players to sign up for the service as some fun things may be on the horizon for PlayStation. Rumor has it that PlayStation is working on a brand new subscription service to rival the likes of Xbox’s Game Pass. If this turns out to be true, it will likely bundle with the Plus service in some way. Therefore, having a Plus subscription in place may save you some hassle and money in the long run.
If you are considering signing up for Plus, don’t wait too long as the price will go back to normal on December 19.
