Pokemon Go is starting the new year with a fantastical event filled with fairies and dragons. The Twinkling Fantasy event will bring both Fairy and Dragon-type Pokemon to the fore, with double XP rewards, extra candy, and better chances at catching a shiny Dedenne.
The Twinkling Fantasy Event starts on Tuesday, January 10 at 8 AM and runs to Monday, January 16 at 10 PM local time. During this period, players can expect twice as much XP from Pokemon caught with nice, great, or excellent throws. Trainers will also get more candy for those throws as well and trainers over level 31 have an increased chance to get Candy XL.
In the wild, expect to encounter more Dragon and Fairy-type Pokemon. Those include Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Dratini, Togetic, Marill, Ralts, Vibrava, Bagon, Deino, and Dedenne, many of which will have an increased chance to be shiny too. If you’re really lucky, you might even encounter a Goomy or a shiny Noibat.
Taking a snapshot during the Twinkling Fantasy event might cause a surprise encounter with a Dragon or Fairy-type Pokemon, and completing the Twinkling Fantasy Collection Challenge will reward players with a Charged TM, a Fast TM, and 50 Salamence Mega Energy.
Speaking of Mega Salamence, you’ll encounter this new Mega Dragon-type in Mega Raids during the event. One-star raids will contain Jigglypuff, Marill, Axew, or Deino, three-star raids will have Mawile, Druddigon, or Dedenne, and five-star raids will feature Zekrom with the move Fusion Bolt.
And finally, Field Research Task Encounters will include Clefairy, Dratini, Bagon, Dedenne, and rarely Goomy. Be sure to have your winter boots ready for the Twinkling Fantasy event starting on January 10.
In other Pokemon news, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's next Tera Raid event will feature Dragapult And Hydreigon starting January 6 and running until January 8, depending on which version of the game they own. Hope into five-star raids in Scarlet for Hydreigon while Violet's five-star raids will feature Dragapult. Both are looking very sparkly in their Terastal forms, so maybe bring your sunglasses.
