Sony development studio Guerrilla Games has revealed more about Horizon Zero Dawn 2.
The next-gen PlayStation 5 exclusive has been on the horizon (pun intended) for quite some time.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 was seemingly confirmed earlier this year by voice actor Janina Gavankar, who played Tatai in the game’s Frozen Wilds DLC.
Speaking to a fan at the Star Wars Celebration, Gavankar – who also voiced Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront 2 – said that she knew some secrets about the upcoming release.
“It’s incredible, wait ’til you see the sequel,” Gavankar said (via Reddit). “You’re gonna die – I know some secrets! – you’re gonna die.”
Guerrilla Games would then start hiring for an “ambitious open-world project”, which was presumed to be Horizon Zero Dawn.
A fresh wave of job adverts have since gone live, this time mentioning Horizon by name.
And it looks like Horizon Zero World 2 will once again take place in a lush open-world brimming with vegetation.
The latest Guerrilla job advert reads: “Within Guerrilla, we have four teams dedicated to creating the stunning environments of Horizon.
“One team focuses on the creation of lush and stunning vegetation. We build these 3D models from scratch, so our world dressing teams can deliver our immersive world with industry-benchmark graphics.”
If previous rumours are true, Horizon Zero Dawn 2 may miss the PS5 launch, but could be released in early 2021.
It was recently announced that the PS5 will have a holiday 2020 release date.
The belief is still that the console will be officially unveiled next February, followed by select showcases throughout the year as we countdown to launch.
PlayStation 5 system architect Mark Cerny recently discussed the new console’s impressive specs.
Instead of working at a software level, Cerny confirmed that the console would gave ray-tracing acceleration in the GPU hardware.
The PS5 will also feature a completely redesigned user-interface, where the emphasis will be on seeing your options and instantly joining games.
