Rebecca’s Shotgun From Edgerunners Prevents Fall Damage In Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners managed to do quite a few things that Cyberpunk 2077 couldn't. Of course, launch bugs and glitches don't really count here, but the anime told a better story, had considerably better world-building, and even gave us a more likable protagonist. Overall, the Netflix series painted a much better picture of Night City than the game, even while discounting the launch troubles it had.

While there were plenty of moments in the show that would have made great additions to Cyberpunk 2077, players have found one neat little trick that would have been cool to see in the anime. Rebecca quickly became a fan-favourite thanks to her small size, big mouth, and even bigger guns. One of them so big, mind you, that if you find its counterpart in the game, the kick-back can literally stop fall damage.

This secret feature – which is probably a bug of some kind – was first spotted by Extreme_Lab1507, who posted it on Reddit (thanks, GameRant). The short clip shows V jumping off from the Dark Matter nightclub with the Guts shotgun in hand. Just before hitting the ground, they fire the weapon, resulting in a safe landing, without any damage. It can be theorized that the kick-back is what saved the player, but it's unlikely that this is really the case.

As lovable as Rebecca is, if things had gone differently, we might not have seen the character at all. A CD Projekt Red producer revealed that the developer wasn't too keen on Rebecca's character, especially due to her childlike appearance. CDPR even voted to remove her, but Studio Trigger stuck to its guns and said that "the loli must stay".

"She's best girl" said the developer after an internal watch party for Edgerunners. "But I feel a little bit guilty to say it because I was one of the people on the creative team to actually vote Rebecca out of the original cast during pre-production." The developer felt that Rebecca's 'loli' nature would stand out because Night City didn't have such characters in the game. However, everyone's happy with the decision now, except perhaps the NPC who got splattered in the above video.
