Respawn Exec Wants 'Big Head Mode' To Come Back To Games – IGN Unfiltered

Respawn exec and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order director Stig Asmussen wants to bring Big Head Mode back to games, and he even spoke to Lucasfilm about it.In this month's episode of IGN Unfiltered (see the full episode below), Ryan McCaffrey sat down with Respawn's Stig Asmussen to talk about the recently-released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, his time at Sony Santa Monica, the history of blockbuster PlayStation exclusive God of War, and much more.Loading"Back in the day, Midway Games was all about having 'Big Head Modes' in games," Asmussen said, "We gotta bring those back." When the idea of adding Big Head Mode to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was brought up, Asmussen said, "We've had some conversations with Lucasfilm about it… actually, I think they were pretty open to it."Asmussen also went on to discuss hidden modes and functionality in other games, such as Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. "Back then, you put the quarter in and input a little code and it would remember your player profile. Or… if you put in a special code, it would bring up a special player profile that couldn't be owned. If you put in PNK666, you got to play as a green mohawk, big head version of me with a chainsaw. Then there was… STG333 was… I had a steel baseball bat and it was more of a 'normal Stig,' kind of thing."LoadingOnce, Asmussen even used the secret code to impress a date. "One thing that was really cool, though, is… I think it was on the second date with my wife. We were at this bar, in San Francisco here, a place called The Crowbar. I don't think it's around anymore, but there used to be this big arcade next door to it," Asmussen said, "After we left, we were going back to the car or whatever, and I said, 'Let's stop here for a second,' and I went up to Gauntlet, I put the thing in, and I put the code in, and she's like, 'That's you!'"For more of the IGN Unfiltered interview with Stig Asmussen, be sure to stay tuned to IGN each day this week.
