Telltale never got the chance to play with the Star Trek IP, but now Telltale veterans are finally getting their chance. Dramatic Labs is full of former Telltale writers, artists, and programmers, and they're bringing the same characteristic storytelling to this new narrative adventure set in the Star Trek universe.
Revealed at The Game Awards, Star Trek: Resurgence is a dialog-drive, single-player role-playing game with branching storylines, two primary characters, and no microtransactions or planned DLC. The game is set in the year 2380, just after the events of the Star Trek: The Next Generation films but before Star Trek: Picard.
Star Trek: Resurgence will be a little more adventurous than some Telltale games and go beyond just dialog choices. Players will be able to pilot shuttlecraft, engage in phaser fights with alien energy entities, scan unfamiliar objects with your tricorder, and even sneak around with some stealth mechanics. The game will also feature all-new characters and a brand new ship for the Star Trek universe, but there will be a few familiar faces appearing in the game too.
Dramatic Labs plans to release Star Trek: Resurgence in the spring of 2022 in partnership with Epic Games on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Sign up on the official website for emailed updates.
