Respawn Entertainment showed off a tiny snippet of its next title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. But it also revealed a much longer segment privately for the press. Now that content is being made public with a 26-minute gameplay video.
In a blog post today on its official website, Respawn’s game director, Stig Asmussen, admitted that he was reticent to show the full video to the public. “Revealing gameplay is always a little nerve-wracking,” he wrote. “We spent months going back and forth discussing the best strategy to release this content,” before settling on an abbreviated trailer and a private, hands-on demo for the press.
Now, a few weeks after the show concluded, the team has elected to reveal the whole thing … with one caveat.
“It should not be mistaken that our combat is overpowered or easy,” Asmussen wrote. “I promise there is considerable challenge and depth to be found within our combat system. The same can be said about our approach to level design, which is crafted in a non-linear way with heavy influences from games like Metroid, Castlevania, and the Souls series.”
You can read our hands-on impressions, where we spent well more than 26 minutes tinkering with the systems ourselves. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to be released on Nov. 15, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
