It's almost here – the nights are drawing in, the air is getting colder and there's something spooky just around the corner.
As autumn wraps its cold fingers around the spine of the nation, gamers are looking forward to one of the most exciting times in the Overwatch calendar: Halloween Terror.
One of the most well-received events from the first year of the game returns for its fourth (!) year and will likely come with some of the best skins in the game once again.
Now that the Overwatch Grand Finals have wrapped up, we can expect Blizzard to start teasing the incoming skins soon.
But what day will the event go live? Previous years may hold the answer.

What date does Overwatch Halloween Terror 2019 start?
Blizzard has yet to formally announce the start date for Halloween Terror 2019, but there's a fairly consistent pattern if we look at past years.
Halloween Terror start dates for the past three years have been:
- 2016 – October 11 (ended November 1)
- 2017 – October 10 (ended November 2)
- 2018 – October 9 (ended November 1)
Overwatch events typically get going on either Tuesdays or Thursdays (Blizzard will only really roll out updates for the game on these days), and since it doesn't look like Blizzard will be making the event live today, we can safely assume it'll start on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
What is Overwatch?
Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Described as a "hero shooter," Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 30 characters, known as "heroes," each with a unique style of play that is divided into three general roles that fit their purpose. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time.
Overwatch Halloween Terror 2019 – Skins
Nothing has been confirmed, but since the Halloween Terror event last year, we've seen the launch of three new heroes: Baptiste, Ashe and Sigma.
Since these three haven't had any Halloween skins yet, it's a pretty reasonable assumption that they'll each get a fancy new skin in this event.
There will also be map reskin for the duration of the event – and as Youtuber BlameTheController below notes, it's likley to be Junkertown this year.
