XQC Was 2021’s Most-Watched Twitch Streamer

Twitch analyst Streams Charts has put together a list of the most-watched streamers in 2021, looking at both hours watched and peak viewers. In terms of hours watched, xQc takes the cake with over 100 million more than second place.

He has 274.96 million hours watched while sitting at a peak of 173,620 viewers – it's a lot, but it isn't the most. In fact, TheGrefg has the highest peak despite having the least amount of hours watched – they have a staggering 2.5 million viewer peak.

In second is Gaules with 165.39 million hours watched and a viewer peak of 343,315. Holding third place is auronplay with 121.14 million hours watched and a peak of 332,926 viewers. Then you have ibai, loud_coringa, summit1g, shroud, HasanAbi, NICKMERCS, and the aforementioned TheGrefg. You can see the bar chart with the numbers in the tweet embedded below.

Streams Charts also looked at the most popular female Twitch streamers, taking into account only hours watched. Leading is Amouranth at 38.96 million, then saddummy, Pokimane, IamCristinini, Jinnytty, 39daph, fuslie, pqueen, Kyedae, and itsHafu.

As for the most popular categories, they were quite varied – at number one, to nobody's surprise, sits Just Chatting. Then you have GTA 5, League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, Minecraft, Call of Duty: Warzone, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Apex Legends, and Dota 2. Those are just the gaming categories.

For the non-gaming categories, Just Chatting stays in the number one spot. Then you have slots, music, sports, art, ASMR, talk shows and podcasts, pools, hot tubs, and beaches, science and technology, and then travel and outdoors. The hot tub meta spiked earlier in 2021, causing controversy across the platform to the point of Twitch intervention, and it certainly left a mark with 43,000 hours watched. It's not on the same level as music's 267 million, but it's impressive enough to break into the top ten.

And to top it off, xQc is still going strong into 2022, remaining as the most-watched streamer in January so far. He's joined by Trainwreckstv, ibai, HasanAbi, shroud, LVNDMARK, TheGrefg, WillerZ, fps_shaka, and Rubius.
