Ori and the Blind Forest coming to Nintendo Switch

Moon Studios’ platforming adventure game, Ori and the Blind Forest, is coming to Nintendo Switch on Sept. 27. The Metroidvania-style adventure was originally released in 2015 on Windows PC and Xbox One, and published by Microsoft.

The Switch version of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition — a re-release of the game from 2016 that added new areas, new abilities, and new difficulty modes — will be published by Xbox Game Studios, another signal that Microsoft is more platform-agnostic than it has been in the past.

Ori and the Blind Forest tells the story of the dying forest of Nibel and the unlikely hero that is called to save his homeland from a dark nemesis. In our review of the game, we called Ori and the Blind Forest “a rare realization of fantastic design and production values” that displays “a spectacular level of confidence in what it is and what it does.”

Moon Studios is currently developing a sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, for Windows PC and Xbox One. Will of the Wisps is scheduled for release in February 2020.
