Pokémon is hosting a virtual concert with Post Malone

The Pokémon Company will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its catchable monsters with a virtual concert headlined by Post Malone, the company announced with a trailer on Thursday morning.

Fans can tune in on Feb. 27, Pokémon Day, to see a digitized Post Malone honor the Pokémon fandom — and Pokémon themselves. The virtual Post Malone show will begin at 7 p.m. EST. Fans will be able to watch it via the Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as the 25th anniversary website.

“I’ve been a Pokémon fan for a long time,” Post Malone said in a news release. “So the opportunity to headline the Pokémon Day concert celebrating 25 years is awesome.”

The Post Malone concert will also kick off the Pokémon Company’s P25 Music program, where it plans to pair with artists like Katy Perry to create new music “through the lens of Pokémon,” the company said.

Prior to the concert, on Feb. 20, Pokémon Go players can log on for the Tour: Kanto event. On the 25th, fans will be able to get a password from the Pokémon Company to download a special kind of Pikachu to their Pokémon Sword & Shield files. This Pikachu comes knowing Sing, which is atypical of the Electric-type Pokémon. And fans can watch a music-themed Pokémon animated series marathon on Pokémon TV prior to the concert on Feb. 27.

Pokémon fans can also expect additional announcements prior to and after the Post Malone concert, the Pokémon Company said.
