Nier: Automata is getting an upgrade patch via Steam, which should bring the game in line with an improved version currently available on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
The Nier series’ official Twitter account said on Tuesday that the patch is “currently in development,” with no further details given.
A month ago, the game’s “Become as Gods” edition, which launched on Xbox One in 2018, joined the Xbox Game Pass for PC library, and players noticed that it includes fixes for the game’s resolution, and some of the crashes that troubled the original PC release.
Nier: Automata launched on Windows PC in March 2017, about two weeks after its PlayStation 4 debut in the West. Reviews of the PC version panned it for its technical disappointments, but neither developer Platinum Games nor publisher Square Enix ever issued a patch to resolve them. Fans rolled up their sleeves and made the Fix Automata Resolution tool, among other mods, which helped the game’s visuals and repaired other glitches.
NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139…, an updated version of the original Nier’s Japan-only launch in 2010, will launch on April 23, 2021 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
