PlayStation 4 will be getting a software update to version 7.00 this week, which includes new features for parties and remote play.
Players will be able to have parties of up to 16 people — up from 8 — and there’ll be chat transcription available for players in the U.S. To access the chat transcription, you’ll need to use the PS4 Second Screen App on your mobile device. The blog post announcing the software update notes that network connectivity and audio quality in parties will also be improved.
Remote Play will also be updated to fully support Android devices (5.0 and higher) and players will be able to use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers to play on Android, iPhones, and iPads. The controller will connect via Bluetooth and should work as long as you’re running at least Android 10, iOS 13, or iPadOS 13. Macs will get this capability when macOS Catalina releases later this month.
