Return of the Obra Dinn, the critically acclaimed maritime whodunit from Lucas Pope, will launch on consoles on Oct. 15. Pope announced the news via Twitter yesterday evening.
Obra Dinn launched almost one year ago, Oct. 18, 2018, for Windows PC. With a visual style inspired by the low-resolution, monochromatic graphics of 1980s Macintosh adventures, the game tasks players with answering what happened to the ghost ship Obra Dinn. It seems the entire crew has gone missing (usually in terrible ways), after the abandoned ship somehow shows up in port in 1807 England.
Return of the Obra Dinn was one of our top games of 2018 and a Steam best seller. Pope’s work won the Grand Prize of the Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards and also took Best Narrative honors at the Game Developers Choice Awards during GDC 2019.
The IGF Grand Prize was Pope’s second; Papers, Please also took those same honors in 2013.
