It’s hard to believe, but Elder Scrolls 6 was officially announced over five years ago during the 2018 E3 conference. Nothing has been shown beyond a short teaser trailer, with Bethesda making it clear that the next Elder Scrolls game wouldn’t launch until well after the release of Starfield. With Starfield’s early access release date just a couple of days away, fans have been wondering what this means for Elder Scrolls 6, and whether we can expect to see the fantasy sequel anytime soon.
Asked for an update on Elder Scrolls 6 (specifically if it was still in the concept phase of development), Bethesda executive Pete Hines told Vandal: “No. It is in development, but early development.”
Unfortunately, however, the good news ends there, because fans still face a lengthy wait for a proper look at Elder Scrolls 6.
“We’ve put all of our studios focused on making [Starfield] the best it can be,” Hines continued.
“And yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio is focused on. So no, at no early point are you going to hear about The Elder Scrolls 6 at all.
“Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”
It’s likely Bethesda will spend the next couple of years updating Starfield with bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and new features. That’s on top of the inevitable expansion packs and downloadable content.

Still, if Bethesda fans have to wait a few more years for the release of Elder Scrolls 6, at least Starfield should keep them busy.
