Fortnite OG Season 7 and 8 release time, date and new features

Fortnite developer Epic Games is about to release the first major update for its hugely popular OG season. After racking up a huge number of players during its first two weeks online, Epic Games will once again fire up the time machine and move things forward to Season 7 and 8. The Fortnite Season 7 and 8 update has a November 16 release date. It will be available once downtime comes to an end at around 11am GMT UK time.

The S7 and 8 release date was announced by Epic Games at the start of the OG season, alongside a preview of what fans can expect.

“If you thought Chiller Traps were cold, Seasons 7 and 8 featured a snow biome and Frosty Flights,” reads an Epic blog post.

“Pirate camps appeared on the Island following the pol-arrrr temperatures, and a range of swashbuckling gear was on the map to employ.”

The exact release date and launch timings were confirmed in a social media post: “What do you call frozen pirate treasure? …Pol-arrr loot!

“Downtime for v27.10 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking being disabled shortly beforehand.”

As part of the update, Epic will bring back Frosty Flights and a snow biome. That’s in addition to Pirate Camps, “swashbuckling gear” and various weapons and items.

Unvaulted weapons include the Flint-Knock Pistol, the Minigun, and the powerful Quad Launcher.

Players will also be able to use the Poison Dart Trap, albeit not in Zero Build. The Itemised Glider Redeploy will also make a return, not to mention Buried Treasure, which should play into some challenges.

Perhaps most exciting of all is the return of the X-4 Stormwing and the Pirate Cannon, the latter of which lets you launch your teammates.

Elsewhere, Epic Games will make a variety of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, while also adding new items to the in-game shop.
