GTA 6 is finally here – Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer given December release date

After years of making fans wait, Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games has finally confirmed plans to reveal GTA 6. Confirming recent rumours and reports, Rockstar told fans that the new Grand Theft Auto will be unveiled as part of the company’s 25-year anniversary celebrations. Specifically, Rockstar Games announced that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will have an “early December” release date.

That’s according to Rockstar Games president Sam Houser, who thanked fans for their support in a heartfelt blog post.

“Thanks to the incredible support of our players worldwide, we have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about — without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us,” writes Houser.

“In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.

“We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”

While the exact date remains unknown, there’s speculation that the trailer could air during The Game Awards on December 7.

Fans will find out for sure closer in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for the latest information.

Grand Theft Auto: Designer applies next-gen graphics to game

Based on previous leaks, one thing we can be fairly certain of is that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City.

It looks like GTA 6 will also feature male and female playable characters. In one scene during a leaked video the characters were shown robbing a diner, which backs up earlier reports of a Bonnie and Clyde-style dynamic.

Another leak suggests Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature multiple drag racing strips, as well as at least one farm.

In terms of a release date, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors to expect a record cash boost in the 2025 fiscal year, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025.

Needless to say, Zelnick’s comments have fuelled speculation that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch during this period, as only something like GTA could generate “record levels of operating performance” for Take-Two Interactive.
