PS Plus October 2023 free PS4, PS5 games reveal time, date, Callisto Protocol

PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the reveal of the free PS4 and PS5 games for October 2023. Next month’s PS Plus Essentials will be officially unveiled by Sony at 4.30pm BST UK time on the afternoon of September 27. The games will be available to download and play less than a week later on the morning of October 3. While Sony will announce three games for the Essentials tier, two of the games may have leaked early.

According to reliable PS Plus leaker BillBil-Kun, The Callisto Protocol will headline the PS Plus Essentials line-up for October.

The third-person survival horror game is created by the person behind the original Dead Space – and it shows.

“In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto.

“When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto.”

The modern horror classic is joined by cult hit Farming Simulator 22, which puts players in charge of a massive area of farmland.

“Take on the role of a modern farmer!” reads the official description. “Agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry offer a huge variety of farming activities while you face the challenges of the four seasons, especially when winter sets in.

“Creatively build your own farm and extend your farming operations with production chains – forming an agricultural empire! Even run your farm together with friends and enjoy crossplatform multiplayer together.”

The third and final game will be revealed at 4.30pm BST later today, so check back later for the full line-up.

With Halloween just a few weeks away, some fans believe Resident Evil 2 Remake or Resident Evil 3 Remake will join PS Plus. Others have predicted Little Nightmares 2, Dark Pictures Anthology, Five Nights at Freddy’s and more.
