Activision has officially announced the release date and theme for Call of Duty Season 6. Coming to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone on September 27, Call of Duty S6 is titled The Haunting. Available in plenty of time for Halloween, the new event features a ton of spooky crossovers with franchises like Diablo, Spawn, The Evil Dead and more. That’s on top of new maps for Modern Warfare, new weapons and items, as well as a limited-time game mode for Warzone with a zombie twist. If you can’t wait until Season 6 on September 27, check out these free games for the weekend, or new releases like EA Sports FC 24 and Payday 3.
However, it’s the horror crossovers that really stand out, with iconic characters like Spawn headlining the Season 6 Battle Pass.
“Players who purchase the Season 06 Battle Pass system will immediately unlock the Al Simmons Operator, Spawn’s Mortal World identity,” Activision explains. “Born in Detroit, Michigan, Simmons grew up to become a skilled assassin and military intelligence officer who was then betrayed by his former colleagues and murdered during a mission.
“Sent to Hell for his work as an assassin, he made a deal with the devil to return to Earth as none other than Spawn.”
By completing the Battle Pass players can also unlock the Spawn skin, as well as the Burned Spawn skin, Nikto Spawn outfit, Creepy Clown, Soul Crusher, Disruptor, and Violator skins.
Even more licensed costumes will be available from the item shop, including Inarius and Lilith from Diablo, Skeletor from He-Man, Ash William from The Evil Dead and Alucard from Hellsing.
That’s on top of an incredible looking DOOM weapon bundle, complete with Chainsaw and long-range Shotgun.
In terms of free in-game content, Activision is getting ready to unleash limited-time game modes like Operation Nightmare and Zombie Royale.
Launching as part of the mid-season update, Operation Nightmare taks players with investigating “eldritch anomalies across the map”, all the while hunting down monstrous targets.
As for Zombie Royale, the game ditches the Gulag, with players instead returning to the map as zombies with unique abilities.
Modern Warfare 2, on the other hand, introduces two Core and two Gunfight Maps at launch. This includes La Casa (Core), Koro Village (Core), King (Gunfight), and Fight (Gunfight).
Two maps will also be reskinned as part of the mid-season update. El Asilo celebrates Día de Muertos, while Embassy becomes the site of a bloody zombie attack.
